One of the best B&B in the Catskills Region. Excellent accommodations, service and cuisine. A place to come home to.
Johnas’ and Santana’s passion for cooking was initially kindled on a romantic motorcycle picnic ride up Mt Utsayantha in Stamford, NY. Their two worlds (Santana, a banker and Johnas, a factory worker) collided in the kitchen…their common values and love for family drew them together. The cuisine melded this union. Little did they know that their dormant cooking genes were waiting to be ignited. And ignited they have! Johnas comes from a long lineage of fine Italian and French chefs of the historic and mountainous Savoie region of France. Santana’s heritage includes great personal chefs to President of the Dominican Republic and both maternal and paternal grandmothers who were celebrated by hosts of neighbors and friends for sharing delicious food from their kitchens. From the roast pork (Pernil) that Santana makes... whence the captivating aroma that hypnotizes the neighborhood and community functions, to the cook-off’s between Johnas and Santana which heralded the opening of the Colonial B&B in Stamford, NY. You are cordially and warmly invited to join Santana and Johnas as they grow their humble B&B and share their cooking prowess with you. “Our goal is for guests to feel at home, enjoy their stay, the accommodations and delicious food … to feel like family and return again and again. We plan to woo you with our Caribbean warmth (Santana) and European charm (Johnas).”
Ambiance and hospitality abound to form a magical, regenerating blend for body, mind and spirit. The strength of the mountain peaks and the virtues of the invigorating air, the sunny friendliness we show our guests, the impeccable service, the taste of The Colonial B&B cuisine are all waiting for you to embrace. Moreover, the B&B participates in the artistic, outdoors and cultural events of the country life, offering its guests exciting, enchanting moments in every season. A stroll along historic Cooperstown or a walk in the majestic Catskills will put you in a place away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday demands back home and allow you to simply get away from it all. Or you may chose to go underground at Howe Caverns, 156 feet below the earth’s surface, the largest public cave in the Northeast, featuring daily tours. Take in an afternoon lunch at the Grapevine Farms and followed by a free wine tasting exhibit in the wine cellar with featured New York State wines. Visit one of the many maple syrup farms in the region. Ski some of the best slopes of the northeast (Hunter Mountain, Windham Mountain and Belleayre Mountain); be taxied to and from the slopes. Allow yourself to be pampered by the family at the Colonial B&B. Take in the small hometown air and become part of our family during your stay. We take great pleasure in making your stay with us a memorable time that you will take home with you for years to come. The Colonial B&B at Stamford NY, a place to come home to.
